Graduation at RAF Halton_____________________ |
|
A former Officer from 2227 (Mid Gwendraeth)
Squadron, Rhian James, has recently graduated
top of her class at recruit training at RAF
Halton. |
|
The former Volunteer Reserve (Training) branch
Officer
joined 2227 (Mid Gwendraeth) Squadron as a
Civilian Instructor in April 2009. It became
quiet clear very early on in her service to the
Squadron that Miss James was an enthusiastic
individual, and although she had no previous
cadet force experience she was eager to gain an
understanding of the Air Cadets and its parent
organisation the Royal Air Force. Rhian James
took a proactive approach in trying to gain this
experience and within her first year completed
the basic staff induction course, the basic
expedition leader’s award, a first aid at work
course and a site specific climbing leader’s
award. These new qualifications alongside her
personal interest in sport made her an
invaluable member of the Squadron staff team. |

Said Flt Lt Liam Brace, Rhian James’ former
Squadron Commander; "From the first day that I
met Rhian, she made it very clear that her
ambition was to join the Royal Air Force. The
Air Cadet Organisation has helped her reach her
goal by giving her the opportunity to attend
work experience courses in the Royal Air Force,
develop her working knowledge of the
organisation and push herself forward. We are
all very proud of her achievements.”
|
|
Having reached her dream Rhian graduated from
RAF Halton on the 30th of June 2011, not only as
one of the Air Forces newest members but as the
courses best new recruit. She was presented with
a trophy to mark this honour by the reviewing
Officer
Group Captain D Barber BA RAF at the graduation
parade. |
