Highest Accolades for 293 Cadets__________________________________________________
Number 293 (Cowbridge) Squadron has just seen two of its finest cadets, Charlotte Chatfield and Tom Jackson, appointed to the rank of Cadet Warrant Officer, the highest cadet rank in The Air Training Corps.  The number of appointments is strictly controlled and the number of cadets that reach the rank of Cadet Warrant Officer constitute less than five percent of the Corps’ 41,000 cadets nationwide.
Both CWO's Chatfield and Jackson are looking forward to a busy summer as 293 (Cowbridge) Squadron receives a new Commanding Officer, Flt Lt Liam Brace.  CWO Jackson will attend a course at the Corps’ adventure training centre in Llanbedr, and CWO Chatfield will be working her way towards her Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s award.  The squadron is sending cadets to annual Summer Camps at RAF Linton-on-Ouse in Yorkshire and RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire for the Royal International Air Tattoo.  Others will travel to Bisley in Oxfordshire to compete in tri-services shooting competitions.  Squadron members will complete expeditions as part of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme, and will also have the chance to experience sub-aqua diving in addition to more typical forms of adventure training.  As another new addition to the Squadron training program they will soon host a First Aid at Work course and a defibrillator course.
