Emergency Medical Technicians Course - July 2010

Cadets Support Medical Training________________
7 Cadets and staff from 1998 (West Cross) and 360 (Llwchwr) Squadrons responded the a request to help support the training of Emergency Medical Technician course held at Crown Training, Swansea, where trainees went through a rigorous five day course to help qualify as ambulance technicians.

The cadet were asked to play the casualties from a scenario that resembled nightmare on Elm Street meets the Chainsaw Massacre, as all were liberally doused in fake blood, given artificial wounds and trained in the art of screaming in pain. The realism of the event made the trainees take an involuntary step back when they were called to this bloodbath but quickly responded and treated the casualties in priority order and cadets were bandaged, given oxygen, put on back boards and whisked away for treatment.

One of the casualties played a burns victim with realistic wounds, whose obvious shock would have earned him an Oscar if he played that role in a Hollywood film.

Justin Honey-Jones, whose company Crown Training Academy, was so impressed with the cadets that he praised their discipline and their fine acting, which he said "helped the trainee technicians realise what a accident could look and feel like" and he said that "without their generous support, they could not have achieved the realism that the cadets gave them and the training would have lost an important part of it".

OC 3WW witnessed some of the blood splattered activities and added his praise to the efforts of the cadets for their support of such an important activity.  Participating Squadrons:
