Qualified Aerospace Instructors Course

Overview__________________________________
The Qualified Aerospace Instructors Course (QAIC) for +16 yr old / Master Air Cadets currently run for the past three years at RAF Linton-on-Ouse, is from September 2011 being run in tandem with Linton-on-Ouse in the south of the UK, based at the Regional Activity Centre (RAC) at MOD Boscombe Down.
The QAI course requires serious commitment on the part of both cadets and staff and is comparable in status to the Junior Leaders’ Course. Its graduates are uniquely qualified to operate the new equipment and programmes purchased for our RACs and Air Cadet Engagement (ACE) platforms that are being used ever more frequently around all our Regions and Wings. It is therefore to our benefit that we develop our own cadets to run these facilities.

General Information____________________________________________________________________

As preparations gather pace for the commencement of QAIC 4 at MOD Boscombe Down this September we are seeking additional adult staff to support the core staff team we have already identified, to be confident that we have a sufficient number of committed staff with the necessary skill sets.

As indicated above, the course does require considerable commitment - it is held on 7 weekends between September and March, and a one-week graduation period in the April.

The key roles have been filled but additional staff are sought to cater for shortfalls for the following modules:

Air Traffic Control - Covers basic air traffic procedures in area and approach and operation of the ATC sim, should be a current air traffic controller.

Air Power - ideally with a good background knowledge of current air operations and a solid understanding of AP3000
Basic Flight Training - Basic aircraft handling in the Flt Sim, operation of the Flt Sim, Maps and pilot navigation. Ideally some flying experience, PPL or gliding.
Aerodynamics and Pilot Studies - use of the wind tunnel, meteorology, principles of flight.
Radio - needs to be experienced in Air Cadet Radio
Personal Development - presentation skills (MOI) and leadership

If you believe that you meet the above criteria and would wish to be considered as a member of staff for QAIC South then please respond to the Course Director Flt Lt Robert Westerberg (cd.south@qaic.org), copying your response to Sqn Ldr Geoff Gregor (rt.south@qaic.org).

If you are interested and eligible, please contact your Squadron Commander as soon as possible.  Details on BADER
