Opening of the Senedd in Cardiff - Tuesday 7th June 2011

The Official Opening of the Fourth Session of The Senedd by HRH Queen Elizabeth II took place on Tuesday 7th June 2011.
It was the turn of The Royal Air Force to provide the guard, and so the Air Training Corps were asked to help line the route.  Each of the three Welsh Wings supplied cadets and staff, and pictured left are the selected representatives from Number 3 Welsh Wing.
Arriving at 08.30 they were inspected, briefed and marched to their places, before standing down for an hour.  They were then reformed at 10.15 to await the Royal Party to arrive at 11.00.  The latter comprised of The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales - Prince Charles and his wife The Duchess of Cornwall.
Following the proceedings, ICWO Emma Sykes from 2227 (Mid Gwendraeth) Squadron and F/Sgt Ross Jones from 334 (Neath) Squadron were interviewed by the national press and TV.
