The Ken Maund Trophy

Ken Maund Trophy 2010

Award presented to Cadet Sarah Kirk - 1092 (Bridgend) Squadron

The "Ken Maund" trophy is awarded annually by Porthcawl RAFA Club to a cadet from one of its three adopted squadrons namely 2347 Porthcawl, 1092 Bridgend and 2117 Kenfig Hill Squadron, and is awarded to collects most money each year for the Battle of Britain Wings Appeal.

Ken Maund was my dad and was a former Chairman of Porthcawl Squadron, Porthcawl Branch of RAFA, and has also been the branch Wings Appeal Officer. The trophy was donated for this purpose by my late mum Enid shortly after the death of my father.  Both he and my mum encouraged me to join the ATC in 1968, and I must have liked it as I have stayed on ever since!
