The Welsh Livery Guild Apprentice Award for 2010...

Overview___________________________________________________________
The Welsh Livery Guild (The Honourable Society for Arts, Science and Technology) holds an annual award by competition, to acknowledge the 'Best Student' at Barry College.
In March of this year whilst still a BA apprentice attending Barry College on day release, Cadet Sgt Ashley Rees of 1092 (Bridgend) Squadron (also a Flight Staff Cadet at 634 VGS St. Athan) was put forward by BA for consideration of an award.
In contrast to his competitive nominees, Ashley was taken from the shop-floor to attend the interview with one hours notice, otherwise unprepared and in his 'working-dress'.
He has now been notified by letter, on behalf of the Welsh Livery Guild Awards Committee of his success as Student of the Year 2010, and that he is the recipient of their Award. He was sent a cheque for £150 'to encourage his further commitment to his studies' and arrangements are to be made for the presentation of a framed certificate and tankard at a later date at the college.
Sergeant Rees has also recently been granted a 'Staff-cadet' qualification by Sqn Ldr Protheroe on his first Staff-officer visit to 1092.
